“If youโ€™re looking for something that is liberating for women, you wonโ€™t find it here and might end up being like me who grew more agitated with Justice and his โ€œteachingsโ€ rather than enjoying the book.” ~ Under the Covers

I read this book because the blurb caught my eye. I was hoping for something that would liberate readers and just be something dirty and fun. What I got instead was a demeaning, self-centered hero who thought he ruled the world and knew everything about sex.

I found it very hard to like anything about Justice Drake. I donโ€™t know why any woman would take advice from him because when one woman asked what should she do when her husband cheats on her, he basically tells her to pretend to be dumb. Why you ask? Well he says men like to think they are wanted. They like knowing they are needed and they need their ego stroked so in order to keep that going, a woman must be needy and must be dependent and stupid for her husband NOT to cheat on her.

This is the point of the book where I stopped and thought, Hold up. Am I reading this right? Instead of saying leave the bastard and go find someone else to have smoking hot sex with, he tells women to be a โ€“ and I quote โ€œa dumb twitโ€ so that their husbands donโ€™t go looking for another dumb twit to fuck. I cannot wrap my head around this.

From there, Justice continued to get on my nerves and I did not care at all about Allison. She came across as mindless and didnโ€™t give Justice a run for his money like I wished she wouldโ€™ve. It wouldโ€™ve been more nice to have Justice fall hard and maybe even change how he saw women and the world through his romance with Aliison but I didnโ€™t get that sense by the end and therefore, never really connected with the characters at all.

So what I would say about this book is, if youโ€™re looking for something that is liberating for women, you wonโ€™t find it here and might end up being like me who grew more agitated with Justice and his โ€œteachingsโ€ rather than enjoying the book.
