“Zanetti did a good job of keeping the balance between world building and the love story. I was never bored.” ~ Under the Covers

I’ve loved a few of Zanetti’s books and the Dark Protectors series has always been in my TBR list and for some reason, this series never made it to the top. But after reading a brief cameo of two hot mysterious men in Taken, Zanetti’s Deep Ops series, I had to get to know more of them. Obviously, I immediately moved this book to the top of my TBR list. Best decision ever because I absolutely enjoyed this book.

Dark Protectors series is a world full of vampires, shifters, and paranormals alike. They also live in the human world and their survival is very much connected to them. This book does a good job explaining how they live and survive, as well as the politics that go around it. The fight for power and right to rule between the races kept me turning the pages. It sort of reminds me of Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed series, Coreene Callahan’s DragonFury series, and a tidbit of J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

Zanetti did a good job of keeping the balance between world building and the love story. I was never bored. There was a good amount of action, solid world-building, and I enjoyed the love story. Talen has all the makings of an alpha hero, Cara, the strong heroine, and they were pretty hot together.
I do wish there was more humor to the story but overall, I loved this book.
