Who doesn’t get excited when a new Elle Kennedy book comes out? You may know by now she’s one of my favorite authors. Anything in any genre she writes I will read. This is actually a re-issued book that I hadn’t read before and it kicks things off in a really sexy way.
Our heroine is very focused on her life and her goals. She’s studying to become a social worker, she volunteers at a youth center where she hopes she can eventually get a job at and she works as a waitress at a local bar. There’s no time in her life for relationships, dating or men so she has an arrangement with a guy that pops in twice a times a year. This man is supposed to be in town for one of these nights together and sends her the info for the hotel room where they are supposed to meet. But when she shows up at this room and lets herself in turns out it’s not her friend but a complete stranger who just happened to be hiding out in that room trying to get some rest. The hero, Ben, is a famous actor who is in the middle of a big scandal and the paparazzi are hounding him so he decides to disguise himself and get a room at this seedy hotel to try and sleep and is woken up by a beautiful woman naked in his bed.
If there’s one thing that comes to mind when I think of this book is how endearing and cute it was. Much as I’ve come to expect from Elle Kennedy, reading BAD APPLE was just a lot of fun. The relationship between Maggie and Ben is playful and sexy. At times it felt like a new adult romance but it isn’t, however it does read a bit young. It may also come across a tad on the side of insta-love which can sometimes be a bad thing for me, but it didn’t take any enjoyment away from the story.
BAD APPLE is a great choice if you are looking for something fast paced, short and sweet that will put a smile on your face. It definitely has the Elle Kennedy signature style that keeps me turning the pages and wanting to read more. The chemistry was excellent even if it wasn’t the most original story. Really enjoyed it.
