“I feel like this book has a never-ending amount of stories that Estep can tell because even with fifteen books in the series, the stories are all fresh and so different from one another.”

The Elemental Assassin series has quickly become one of my favorite Urban Fantasy series. With UNRAVELED, Jennifer Estep continues to thrill and enchant readers. With this book being book fifteen in the series, you’re definitely better if you read the books in order, especially since the events in this book explore the consequences of the discovery in the last book BITTER BITE.

I’m a big fan of Gin Blanco. I think she’s changed a lot over the years but even being the queen of the underworld doesn’t mean that she is all-powerful. At least not yet because there’s something called “the Circle” that not even Gin knows about. This book really centers around them and it’s a bit of a mystery mixed with action/suspense with this book as Gin, Finnegan and the crew try to find out what’s really going on with “the Circle.”

As I mentioned before, I’m a big fan of the series, but I feel like things are a little slower in this book. I didn’t find it as action-packed as some of the previous books have been but I also understand why. Because Gin doesn’t exactly know what’s going on, she won’t act until she is sure. So until we discover what these Circle members really are, everyone is treading lightly.

Estep’s books are always well-written and extremely plotted and UNRAVELED is no exception. I feel like this book has a never-ending amount of stories that Estep can tell because even with fifteen books in the series, the stories are all fresh and so different from one another. So I would definitely say this series is worth the read if you like a badass heroine who doesn’t mess around.

About Jennifer Estep

Jennifer writes the Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series for Pocket Books. The books focus on Gin Blanco, an assassin codenamed the Spider who can control the elements of Ice and Stone. When she’s not busy killing people and righting wrongs, Gin runs a barbecue restaurant called the Pork Pit in the fictional Southern metropolis of Ashland. The city is also home to giants, dwarves, vampires, and elementals – Air, Fire, Ice, and Stone.

  1. I’ve had this series on my radar for a while but 15 books in is a bit overwhelming as I’ve already read a lot of large series this year. Is there any romance in the series?

  2. I remember reading the first book in this series years ago. It’s some achievement for the author to have now published a further fourteen books in the series. Some of the best covers in the genre as well.
