Review: Tigerland by Sean Kennedy

In TIGERLAND, Sean Kennedy explores life after the HEA for Declan and Simon. While Dec retires from the sport and becoming a sports commentator and Simon works on his queer program on a TV station, they are trying to live a comfortable life. However, readers know that with these guys that’s not possible.

When Dec’s ex wants to come out to his peers, it pushes Dec in an uncomfortable position. Neither of them can decide what to do and when it starts to eat away at their relationship, that’s where the real conflict is. In my opinion, it wasn’t a huge deal to me. Yes, Greg was doing it to gain attention but it seems to far outside Simon and Dec’s relationship that it shouldn’t have really mattered to them.

What really surprised me about this book and actually turned out to be my favorite thing about the book is the involvement of Simon and Declan’s friends in the story. Fran and Roger aren’t new to the series but they never fail to make me smile. Usually in other Contemporaries you see the gay couple as the comic relief. Kennedy switches that around and makes straight people’s problems a funny and charming thing. The same goes with Lisa and Abe’s issues.

So if you’re in the mood for a sweet, fun-filled M/M, then Sean Kennedy delivers in spades. I absolutely loved reading about Declan and Simon.
