“While I am sad to see this series end, Roux couldn’t have written a better book to cap off this journey.”

CRASH & BURN marks the end of one of my favorite series. It’s been an absolute thrill ride but what Abigail Roux does with this book is truly remarkable. CRASH & BURN is rife with twists and turns, plenty of heart-stopping action and lots of jokes along the way. If you haven’t already fallen in love with these boys, you definitely will with this book.

The beginning starts off slow. Roux worried me actually at first because its far more sweeter in tone than the rest of the books have been. In fact, I even wondered if these were the same guys who ribbed each other relentlessly in the other books. But once you hit the 60 page mark, the action begins and doesn’t let up until the very end. If you thought that the other books were filled with action, you’ll be in for a pleasant surprise because this is ten times more action-packed.

Everything that has happened up to this point is twisted around and what you once thought of people that you either loved or hated in this series is revealed in their true form. There’s plenty of shocking moments and a few heartbreaking ones as well. But the great thing about this is that Roux plays it perfectly. Everything is executed in a flawless format and it really makes the previous books in the series seem like nothing in comparison. I think Roux did a wonderful job of taking what she had built in the rest of the series and really shaking things up for her characters. Just when you thought nothing worse could happen, she finds a way to spice it up even more. I admired authors like this, who aren’t afraid to put their characters through the ringer. It achieves so much more than if you simply kept them happy and content and you certainly wouldn’t evoke the right emotions from the reader either. So kudos to Roux for being relentless and creating a story that keeps readers on their toes.

utc-top-pickPretty much everyone of important is in this book. Cameron, Duece and Earl…they are all here along with Sidewinder and of course, the main attraction, Ty and Zane. Nick plays a crucial part in this book and without him, I don’t think the book would have reached its emotional pinnacle. The same goes with Liam. I love and hate this guy. He’s a major pain in the ass, but I enjoy his presence in the story because of what he evokes out of the other characters he’s with. If you’re a fan of the relentless ribbing these boys have, there’s plenty of that in this book.

All in all, while I am sad to see this series end, Roux couldn’t have written a better book to cap off this journey. Ty and Zane will remain one of my favorite couples ever and I’m sure there will be plenty of rereads in the future whenever I start missing them.

  1. I can’t believe we have no more Ty and Zane. I did hear that these are coming to audio. If they are using the same narrator as they were using, I will go back and revisit. I do love this series. My favorite LGBT series, that is for sure. I am reading the spin off, but it just isn’t the same. Good, just not as good. Great review.

  2. I am also sad this is ending, but all good things seem to do this. I am reading Locked, Loaded and Lying by Sarah Andre, it’s a Rom Suspense and I think it’s very good! sarahandre.com is her site. She is a great author, like her style!
