After reading this book, I felt like I was going to have PTSD. ~ Under the Covers

If you’re a fan of biker books, then this is one you need to check out. But I feel like I should put a warning here. Yes, it does state that it has explicit violence in it and while that’s almost expected for a biker book, I don’t think it really gives adequate warning for the type of violence. If you’re easily triggered by violence against women and animals, then this book may not be for you. It’s heavily detailed and very, very graphic. All the violence is aimed at women in a very in your face sort of way. While I’ve read my fair share of violence in books, I found that the level of intensity in this one was almost too much to bear. For one, it’s so graphic and it seems to pile onto each other, scene after scene. At times, I didn’t find it necessarily at all and thought perhaps it was used to create some shock value. For me, it was just a little over the top, bordering on obscene. After reading this book, I felt like I was going to have PTSD.

BEHOLD THE STARS continues with the kickass heroine Lilli and her badass biker man, Isaac. The focus of this book is really on the events with Lawrence Ellis. I felt like the romance took a backseat in this one although there are some crazy hot sex scenes as well. But because of the severity of the situation and how well Fanetti writes such violent and dramatic scenes, the romance and especially the sex scenes seemed almost forced as she tried to balance it out. For me, I was annoyed whenever they were going to get down in the middle of the hospital after everything that had happened. It just wasn’t an appropriate time and place and therefore, wasn’t believable to me.

I blazed through this book, found myself holding my breath and then knew it was something good when the events stayed with me long after I finished it. As addicting as it was, some scenes overshadowed the romance and as a result, I had to take half a star off for it. All in all though, Fanetti has a great voice and I’ll be looking forward to reading about Show next!

  1. I have book 1 of this series but haven’t read yet. Your review of book 2 has me wanting to move the book up in my TBR pile.
