“I was captivated by both the romance and the mystery…”

Recommended Read!

If you’ve been around UTC for any length of time, you may know that we love Kelley Armstrong. She can write in so many genres and she does it spectacularly well ever time. When I saw she was writing a time travel gothic romance, I knew that had my name written all over it.

A STITCH IN TIME is what you could call second chance romance through time and age. Brownwyn used to spend time at her great-aunt’s house, Thorne Manor, as a child. Back then she discovered that the house was more than haunted. She could actually go back in time and visit William Thorne, a boy her own age but two centuries ago. Over the years they spent a lot of time together and got to care for each other, but after a family tragedy the house was shuttered and she convinced herself that it was all her imagination.

She comes back to Thorne Manor as a 38 year old widow and after 20 years she realizes her memories of William where not imagination. And she can still travel back in time except the boy is nothing like she remembered.

A ghost story and mystery is also entwined perfectly in this story. This is something Ms. Armstrong always does so well! I was captivated by both the romance and the mystery just as much. As she narrates and unfolds the mystery, we get to fall for these characters that have to navigate reuniting after all these years, after thinking their love could never be and deciding to take a chance and be together this time.

And if you wanted a little more closure for the romance, look no further than the holiday novella, BALLGOWNS & BUTTERFLIES. I loved reading that one right after finishing this story, almost like an extended epilogue. I can’t wait to be back at Thorne Manor for the next book about Rosalind & August!

About Kelley Armstrong

Kelley Armstrong has been telling stories since before she could write. Her earliest written efforts were disastrous. If asked for a story about girls and dolls, hers would invariably feature undead girls and evil dolls, much to her teachers’ dismay. Today, she continues to spin tales of ghosts and demons and werewolves, while safely locked away in her basement writing dungeon. She lives in southwestern Ontario with her husband, kids and far too many pets.

  1. I did enjoy this but wanted more: story, explanation, romance, feeling.

I will read book 2 and am hoping for that little bit more.
