“This book is all the gothic romance mystery you need this time of year.”

Recommended Read!

I made the mistake of not reading THE ORPHAN OF CEMETERY HILL by Hester Fox when it came out last year. I’ve enjoyed this author’s previous books (and also recommend you pick up immediately) and this year I decided to put it at the top of my Fall TBR. After all, I have A LULLABY FOR WITCHES (coming February 2022) already on my kindle.

This is the perfect blend of murder/mystery and a dash of romance. Tabby can see dead people and she lives with her adoptive father at the cemetery he’s caretaker of. As a child she developed a crush on a beautiful boy she saw one time, and they meet again when he’s come to bury his father. Murder, grave robberies and more.

This book is all the gothic romance mystery you need this time of year. I was rooting for Tabby and Caleb from the very beginning I loved them for each other and how their romance perfectly blended with the multiple threads in this story. The pacing could’ve been a little tighter around the middle, but I still enjoyed every bit of it. I think Ms. Fox’s stories are perfect for a little creepier but understated vibe. And they always deliver a great romance as well.
