“Flash was the main reason I wasn’t in love with this story.”
~ Under the Covers

ONE HOT DECEMBER is the third book in the Men at Work series by Tiffany Reisz. I’m a big fan of Reisz’s work so I was looking forward to this holiday themed one. However, I realized early on that there were more than a few lines in this book that had me stepping back a little bit and I’ll tell you why. The premise of this book is a cute one. It’s all about falling for your employer. This isn’t a new trope or anything like that and the twist Reisz puts on this is that Flash and Ian have already had sex before. It was a scorching hot one-night stand but Flash clearly wants more. The problem is, Ian is trying to reestablish the boundaries between them. If it weren’t for the fact that Ian is so hot, that would probably annoy me.

Flash was the main reason I wasn’t in love with this story. She has a lot of lines in this story that came across as a little trashy and I found myself wrinkling my nose in disgust. As you know, I’m by no means a prude, but for whatever reason I just couldn’t find myself getting into her character. I think if you’re a big fan of Reisz’s banter and heroines who don’t have a filter and say whatever they want, this probably won’t bother you as much. I don’t usually find Reisz’s characters annoying, but with Flash, I did.

The thing that saved this book for me is Ian. He’s super hot. I just wished he gave in a little bit earlier. There’s not much going on in this book. Just some flirty banter and hot sex so the conflict is very minimal. I would suggest this book only if you want something easy to read. I will also say, I wish the author switched up the banter a little bit. She does it so well, but I can easily predict the beat in which she’s going to go so it doesn’t make the books particularly exciting but that might come from having read every single one of the books that Tiffany Reisz has put out.
