Congrats on the release of VIPER! I have to say you are mixing two awesome things: bikers and vampires. Couldn’t get sexier! What was your favorite part about writing about badass biker vampires?
Thank you for having me here on Under the Covers. I do appreciate the warm welcome. And thanks for the congrats. I’m thrilled Viper is doing so well. My favorite part of writing Viper has to be the vampire bikers themselves. I really enjoyed their scenes and getting into their heads. I cannot wait to expand on their characters in book two of the series. I love alpha males, and these guys are definitely bad boys…but they also take care of their own, no matter what the cost.
Did you have someone in mind while writing Kane ‘Viper’ Tepes?
Not really. Viper does live in my head, so he is definitely a unique individual. I do hope that I gave his description justice so that the reader has a clear vision as to who Viper is to them. I think it’s always best to allow the reader to create their own look for the character, rather than giving them a visual that might not live up to their expectations of who he is. Let’s just say he is as hot, and sexy, as you imagined him.
What’s your favorite scene from the book?
My favorite scene has to be the bathroom scene. I imagined that long before I got to it in the book. It’s that one scene that you are rewarded with when you finally get there. I don’t want to say any more about it as not to spoil it for those who haven’t read the book yet. Let’s just say that Viper definitely delivers.
If you had to summarize this book in a tweet, what would it be?
Wow…140 characters or less, huh? “To claim Cara, Viper would defy his brotherhood and break blood law. Some things are simply worth breaking all rules for.”
Readers love finding out more things about authors. Tell us 5 things about yourself that would shock us!
1. I can’t stand the sight of blood. I will get light-headed and have to sit down.
2. My favorite alcoholic drink is beer. I love an ice cold beer.
3. I am sucker for chick flicks. I love romantic comedies.
4. I almost quit writing a few years ago. Lara Adrian talked me out of it.
5. I have a huge heart and genuinely love people, which means I also get my feelings hurt easily.
What’s next in the Sons of Sangue series and when is the next book coming out?
The next Sons of Sangue book is: Hawk. I expect Hawk and Suzy’s book to be out late spring 2014, though there is no set date. It’s way too early in my writing of it.
Kane ‘Viper’ Tepes is one of the oldest living descendants of Vlad III. Vampirism is in his blood. So is being the President of the Sons of Sangue. Those who break motorcycle club rules that protect their coven are dealt swift punishment. No exceptions. Until one pretty little detective has him compromising his beliefs, and endangering his position as head of the MC.
Vampirism had Cara Brahnam turning tail and leaving behind her life in Pleasant. Now, ten years later, she’s back as lead detective and wants to see the person responsible for draining the women of Lane County brought to justice, no matter what deal the gang of miscreants has struck with the sheriff. Or the fact that her number one suspect is the sole reason she fled in the first place.
Now someone has targeted Cara as the next victim and Kane must join in the hunt to find the ancient vampire that wants her dead.

“I’m not moving, Kane, not until you tell me how I got involved in the middle of a pissing match between you and some ancient vampire.”
He ground his teeth. Damned stubborn woman. “Why can’t you just do as I say? I can’t protect you here, Cara.”
“Well, apparently”—she stepped so close he could smell her blood rushing through her veins—
“had I not ever met you, I wouldn’t need protecting. So I think you owe me the truth, Kane.”
“I don’t know the answer, Cara … other than he wants you dead. Why? Because it would hurt me.”
She spread her arms out, the gesture causing her robe to slip, revealing more of her cleavage … answering the question of what lay beneath her robe. Nothing. His breath left his chest in a hiss.
How much could one vampire take? They were sexual beings, for crying out loud, not used to practicing restraint. His cock hardened. He wanted to bury himself to the hilt, feel her walls surround him like a silk glove and forget this primordial even existed.
“How could my death possibly hurt you?”
“Because I want you, Cara, I have for ten years.” When she didn’t comment, only gaped at him, he continued, “Is that what you wanted to hear, Mia Bella? You have one vampire who wants to fuck you senseless, who can barely contain himself in your presence, and one who wants to take your life because of it.”
Kane’s eyes blackened as his fangs elongated in his rising desire. He could see his crazed reflection in her gaze. Damn, but he wanted to throw her on the messed bed she had just crawled out of, push aside her robe and run his hands along her silken flesh, take what he’d fantasized about as he watched her sleep. He didn’t think his actions through, just knew the need sluicing through him was more powerful than anything he had experienced before. Grasping her biceps, he pulled her flush and slanted his mouth over hers, his tongue sliding between her parted lips.
God help him, but he was a hair’s breadth away from losing all control.
