“Once again Singh shows why she is one of the best Urban Fantasy/PNR writers out there.”
~ Under the Covers

I wasn’t sure what to expect with Archangel’s Viper, I have been intrigued by Venom but a little uncertain about him. Especially with Sorrow aka Holly, the young woman that Elena rescues from book 1. I never got a romantic vibe between them. I was half right, I don’t think the romance itself was as strong as other books in the Guild Hunter series, however, it did work.

Holly was a great character and it’s a shame we didn’t see more of her growth through the series, I almost feel like we had a snap shot of her “before” when she was a mess after first being rescued. In this book we get the “after” once she has had time to come to terms with her new and unusual circumstances and abilities. We haven’t really seen how she got there within the previous 9 books in this series.

I’ve already briefly mentioned by initial scepticism regarding the romance, and although I didn’t think their chemistry was as good as other couples within the series, Singh still wrote a great romance. But, this series isnโ€™t just about the romance, Singh also treats us to some action packed scenes that keep the book exciting. I also loved that we got another glimpse into the Legion. The group of kind-of angels that came to Raphaelโ€™s aid previously. I really hope we get to see more of the Legion as this series progresses.

Although this book isn’t one of my favourite books in the Guild Hunter series it was a good installment and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Once again Singh shows why she is one of the best Urban Fantasy/PNR writers out there.

  1. I love Nalini Singhs writing. I haven’t picked up anything by her in a while. I think that will have to change. ๐Ÿ™‚
