Sweet Nothings picked up about two months after Sugar Springs had ended. And Cody’s brother, Nick Dalton, is back to continue to build their relationship. While in town, he also started to get to know the people in Sugar Springs including a certain baker who had caught his attention. Nick will find himself making a deal of a lifetime by helping Joanie Bigbee remodel her grandmother’s home. What Nick didn’t expect is that he will help Joanie rebuild not only the house but also her life.

Joanie is a hot mess. She has a lot on her plate and she is handling everything all on her own. With the opening of Cakes-a-gogo, handling her grandmother’s finances, worrying about her health, she has no time for a relationship. And she would never want one either since she believes the Bigbee curse is real. Wouldn’t you know it, Nick is relentless and she might just take a chance.

I love Nick and Joanie’s love story. They were cute, sexy and definitely sweet together.  Though Joanie was a hard one to catch, Nick was the sweet suitor who stuck around until he won her love. Through Joanie’s hardships, he was constantly there to support her. I love that he played along with “we’re not in a relationship” charade.  And when he called her “sweetness”, it made me smile and swoon all over him.  At times, my heart broke for him because of how Joanie dealt with their relationship. But I realize he was strong enough to stay and go after what he wanted. He is definitely a swoon worthy hero. Joanie, on the other hand didn’t believe she deserved to be happy. I know she had her reasons but there were times when I wanted to smack her silly so she can see what was in front of her. Okay, her reasons are valid, and I do get it. I love how Ms. Law had touched familial issues that can most definitely prevent someone from being happy if not overcome and Joanie did in a big way. I know this is book is fictional, but Joanie’s story was somehow inspirational.

I was intrigued with Joanie’s Grandmother, Gigi’s story. Her life was full of heartaches but with a great love story. She certainly has a story to tell that I would LOVE, LOVE to read about. I’m hoping Ms. Law would consider writing it.

Next up is the third brother, Zachary. Yes, Nick and Cody found him. This should be really good. A very rich, playboy type and from the looks of things, Zack is a jerk. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Law has up her sleeve to bring Zack to his knees.
