ARC Review: Reaper’s Stand by Joanna Wylde

You know what I find in a way fascinating about this series?  There is no mold to the stories Joanna Wylde tells!  The only thing you know for certain is that you are picking up a book by a completely individual person that just happens to be part of the same MC.  You may not think each story is your favorite because some types appeal more to you than others, but I find them to be very real.  In the end, not everyone’s journey will be the same.  Not everyone’s book will have the same intensity.  Some are younger and some are older.

That being said, I love a more mature hero.  As much as I enjoyed the more new adult story from the previous book, this brought the series back to what I liked.  A man that has seen and done more than others.  Who is ruthless when needed.  And a man who is brought down to his knees by the sheer love of the one special woman that crosses his path.

Picnic has had a string of “young chicks” in his bed.  A fact that his daughter was not all too happy about.  But you gotta think that before that, he was a committed man.  At heart, he’s a family man and London was just the woman to make him see he could love again.  And I love that once he falls, he’s in for the long haul.  He’s straight forward.  He doesn’t want to play games.  He wants to be with her and protect her.  Have her by his side.  And you can’t help but melt a little at his soft and protective side.

I also loved the fact that London is an older heroine.  I would’ve probably had a fit if he did end up falling for a 25 year old or something.  I can get behind London and believe she has what it takes to handle Picnic and his life.

I’m not sure if this is the type of book people are expecting to read.  Like I said before, this series has been a surprise after another.  What I can tell you is that even though this was a sweet and sexy read, more so than the crude and raw some want, it was a great story!  One that I enjoyed from beginning to end and definitely left me hungering for more Reapers to come.  And keep us guessing what’s next, I love it!
