I found that I was unable to really connect to the authorโs voice or the characters. I found the world to be interesting at first, but then as it became more detailed, I found that I could not really keep track of it all. ~ Under the Covers
I am a sucker for all things Beauty and the Beast so I jumped on this opportunity to read this novella. However, I found that I was unable to really connect to the authorโs voice or the characters. I found the world to be interesting at first, but then as it became more detailed, I found that I could not really keep track of it all. It seemed a little messy to me and I think my initial confusion stayed with me throughout the entire novella.
At times the writing was OK, but then when it jumped into dialogue, I felt very detached from the characters. The author bombards you with a few different characters at first and really shows how they fit in the world.
The one thing I really liked about this book was Hauk. Heโs an interesting character and I loved that he isnโt your handsome shining knight. I think more authors should attempt to write heroes who are like Hauk more. I found it to be refreshing.
This is the first book in a trilogy and since it is a shorter length, I think a lot of things happened at a very fast paced. The HEA doesnโt occur at the end of this book, but that didnโt bother me too much. For me it was my detachment from the world and characters. Unfortunately, Iโm not interested enough to continue.
