A little foodie, a little sports, and a whole lot of love. First Step Forward is a great start to Grand Valley series.  It’s  a story of two very different people who found love in each other while down on their luck.  Liora Blake is a new to me author, and I’m very happy to report that FSF is my kind of love story. It was fun, flirty, and it was a sweet read.  

Cooper Lowry is at the tail end of his football career and after a bad play on the field, he was ordered complete rest away from football and the lifestyle it comes with it.  It might be the need to get way, or maybe the need to see the girl he just met, but the idea of getting away to be with her is all he could think of.

Whitney Reed is not the typical women Cooper is used to. No, she is quite the opposite.  A plain Jane from a small town who owns an apple orchard.  Also down on her luck, Whitney is in a financial rut barely hanging on to her land.  She is all about determination and it will all be hard work but she will go down kicking and screaming.  Reality bites but while at it, she will still entertain the idea of Cooper right by her side.  Why the hell not?

I love the opposites attract in this story.  Cooper’s attraction to a small town orchard girl was definitely swoon worthy and Whitney’s refusal to be like any groupie was commendable.  I love her independence and pursuit of her dreams despite hardships.  Cooper, on the opposite side, has already had his success and his acceptance of it all including the end bit was heart warming.  What I love most is that despite the different times of their lives, they found each other.  Love that is well deserved for both sides.

Looks like Second Chance Season , the second installment is in the works with a release set for May of next year. Looking forward to what Ms. Blake has in store for us.
