“I have to give both stories a thumbs up. They were well-written, perfectly placed and provided a couple hours of entertainment when I needed it most.” ~ Under the Covers

A group of men with the gift of premonition are up against an unknown threat. This brand new series is called the Phoenix Code and is written by Lara Adrian and Tina Folsom in two novellas that are rife with action, suspense and emotion.

As a longtime fan of Adrian, I knew that I wanted to read this new series. But this style of book is nice because you also get to try other authors as well. In this case, Folsom was a new-to-me author and I discovered that I really enjoyed her writing style.

CUT is Adrian’s story involving Ethan Jones and Tori Conners. Ethan has found a happy place with Tori in his life, but when a signal comes in telling him that he must drop everything and run, he does so, leaving Tori to wonder what went wrong in their relationship.

Years later when Ethan is being chased down by a killer, he meets Tori again and it puts her in grave danger now that the killer knows her identity. Fast-paced with a killer amount of emotion, Adrian definitely shows that she is able to conquer any genre she writes in.

Tina Folsom’s story is just as riveting and suspenseful, reminding me of the classic Superman tale. Scott Thompson is a mechanic turned reluctant hero when he gets a vision of a school bus packed full of children are trapped on some train tracks with a train speeding towards them. If he doesn’t act, they will all die, so Scott does the impossible saving all the kids as well as Phoebe Chadwick, who is actually a journalist standing in for a teacher. Phoebe has found her biggest story yet and she never would’ve believed that she would be in the middle of it but it makes for a very fun story.

I have to give both stories a thumbs up. They were well-written, perfectly placed and provided a couple hours of entertainment when I needed it most. I’ll definitely be looking forward to the rest of the series.
