“Hailey Turner has me hooked!”
~ Under the Covers

This series has taken me a little by surprise.  I love to read urban fantasies that involve mythology in a way that feels seamless and that is not often the case, at least for my taste.  But Hailey Turner has me hooked!  From the characters to the world building, I can’t wait to read more about this world.

ALL SOULS NEAR & NIGH picks up soon after A FERRY OF BONES & GOLD left off.  Our main protagonist, Patrick, has now been transferred to NYC and is living with his boyfriend Jono.  And now he gets another case which has him working again with the PCB and with Casale again.  Someone is killing shifters in what seems to be sacrificial rituals and there’s a vamp drug on the rise!

If you want an action packed story, the look no further.  Hailey Turner’s writing make this story come alive and the pacing really doesn’t let you go.  You want to keep turning the pages.  The setting, the personalities, the danger.  I was fully engrossed in everything about this story. And I think it does a great job at blending all these paranormal elements so well.  There’s always a bit of mythology and this was no different.

Plus there’s some political things happening in the paranormal community involving Patrick and Jono that I’m really excited about and can’t wait to read more about.  Jono is a favorite of mine for sure and I loved his strong presence in this story plus what we can expect from him in future books.

Then there’s the romance.  I think this book showed a deeper connection between Patrick and Jono and I was totally on board with it.  I really liked that we got to see more of them that way.  They have great chemistry but also respect for each other’s strength and abilities.

But lets not forget about the side characters.  As much as I love everyone that we already knew in the previous book, there’s a certain young new character in this one that took a little place in my heart.  Especially with the constant eating.  So adorable!  I can’t wait to see more of him in the next installment.

ALL SOULS NEAR & NIGH doesn’t really pull any punches.  It dives right into a dangerous world and doesn’t tie things with a neat bow.  It was an exciting read and I can’t wait to get the next one.
