What is Warrior’s Cross by Abigail Roux all about?

Warrior’s Cross by Abigail Roux follows Cameron Jacobs, a waiter who can’t stop noticing his enigmatic Tuesday-night customer, Julian Cross. Their relationship builds slowly, with trust forged one glance and one kiss at a time, until Julian’s dangerous world collides with their romance. Equal parts sweet and suspenseful, this is the origin story of one of the genre’s most memorable couples.

Warrior’s Cross by Abigail Roux Book Review

Cameron Jacobs considers himself to be a happy man. Waitressing at a restaurant called Tuesday doesn’t cause him headaches on a regular basis but ever since an especially hot, well-dressed man has been coming to dine at the restaurant every Tuesday, Cameron has found something to excite him. Though a few passing words and heated looks are the only things they have shared for a few months, it’s enough to keep Cameron waiting on Tuesday evenings for his appearance.

WARRIOR’S CROSS is a unique story that displays both the sweetness and bitterness of love. Abigail Roux and Madeleine Urban possess a true talent of getting underneath the characters skin and revealing aspects of themselves in a way that further progresses the plot and story. Never once was I bored while reading this and I just happened to finish it within a few hours of starting it. Cam and Julian turned out to be more than I thought.

Julian Cross keeps his profession a secret for the safety of Cameron. Though I wondered if I would have a problem with him withholding this information from Cam, I found that the author’s choice of not revealing it explicitly and rather showing it was a nice take on it. The first part of the book is dedicated to the slow building romance between Julian and Cam. The time it takes for them to trust each other is important because Julian isn’t the type to simply keep someone the way he does with Cam. The slow build helped me as a reader keep that in mind and then….the action starts!

Quick and hard, the action and suspense gives this book the last little jolt of excitement and it really made for a fun, engaging read. Since I was so in love with Julian and Cam together, it only made the suspense that much more exciting and I think that was the author’s purpose of the threat, to show just how deep the emotions between Cam and Julian ran, not really for the sake of creating a suspenseful book (though that doesn’t hurt at all either!).

If you’re a rabid fan of their Cut & Run series, you’ll be thrilled to note that Cam and Julian play a huge part in ARMED & DANGEROUS and if you plan on reading it, it’s nice to have this background information on Cam and Julian already, so read this before book 4 of the Cut & Run series.

I loved loved LOVED this book and I think a Cut & Run reread is in order now. Highly recommend.

Pin it for later
