“…should it really be this hard to sit and enjoy a book? ”
~ Under the Covers

On paper this book has everything I think I want; action, sci fi, snarky heroine, hot ‘n heavy romance. In reality it took me weeks and weeks to get to 46% of the book and the thought of trying to wade through it just left me feeling a little depressed. Why didn’t I like it? My head was telling me I should, my heart was bored and begging me to just move on. By 46% I was listening to my heart and Wanted and Wired has now been relegated to my DNF pile.

There wasn’t anything inherently wrong with this book, unlike some DNFs or 1 star reviews I have nothing I want to rant about and point out as awful. I simply could not connect with either the characters or the story. I found the heroine’s hedonistic approach to life a little distasteful, although it didn’t make me dislike her, I just didn’t get her. The hero…was okay.

As for the storyline, there was both too little and not enough. I wasn’t entirely certain what they were running from, nor was I entirely sure of the factions that were mentioned in the book. It all seemed very scrambled and left me feeling the same way.

As much as I wanted to, I just didn’t like this book, I tried hard, but I kept thinking…should it really be this hard to sit and enjoy a book? The answer was no, so I decided it was the right time to put it down and move on.
