~TESSA DARE~

When inviting one of our favorite historical romance authors to open up our Scandalous Affair, we thought what better way than interviewing her surly and sometimes grumpy new hero, the Duke of Rothbury!  We now present you Ransom!

Hello Ransom! Welcome to UTC! I promise I won’t take up much of your time.

Ransom:  You already have.

A note from Izzy:  I’m so sorry.  As you may know, His Grace suffered an injury that diminished his vision, and he is unable to read and answer his own correspondence.  As his secretary, I will transcribe the duke’s answers faithfully.  I apologize for them in advance.

I know you have lots to do as the Duke of Rothbury, but the readers want to know more about you. Can you list three words that best describe you?

Ransom:  Duke. Wealthy. Those two words should be more than enough.

Izzy, again: As expected, he is loath to say anything charitable about himself.  If I might take the liberty of answering, I would submit the words “Loyal”, “Brave”, and “Protective.”  And (because I always use four words where I should use three) I will add “Handsome.”

If you could keep only one material item you own, what would it be?

Ransom:  Gostley Castle.

Izzy:  He only says that to vex me.  He knows I’ve inherited this place.

If you could pick to be a character straight out of a fairy tale, which character would you be and why?

Ransom:  Whichever character is spared the pain of insipid questions.

Izzy:  I’m so sorry. He’s especially out-of-sorts today.  As you can probably gather, he’s very much like a Beast.

I also wanted to ask you about Izzy. Izzy is quite the intrepid heroine who is strong-minded as well as strong-willed. What would you say is your favourite thing about her?

Ransom:  Her beauty.

Izzy:  Impossible man.  He knows very well that I’m no beauty.  I’m plain, and I’ve told him this several ti—

Oh, dear.  He has noticed my excessive scribbling and berated me for it.  I’ve been bid—commanded, really—to transcribe the following sentence verbatim:

“Isolde Ophelia Goodnight is a raven-haired temptress with exquisite breasts and a shining heart.”

There.  I hope he’s happy.  So mortifying…

And finally, I have to ask, what does a “happily ever after” mean to you?

Ransom: This. Just this.

Izzy: For once, I have nothing to add.
