“If you haven’t read any Whitney G. before, though, I think this gives you a good taste of what you can expect.”
~ Under the Covers

I’ve been reading this author for years now and recently she’s been releasing a series of short stories that she calls steamy coffee collections.  They’re not related but they’re all short office romances.  I started off enjoying these because they hit the spot for when I needed a little jerk hero fix.  And I also liked the fact that they weren’t erotic so that the story was really more developed.

But with each release, the thing that has been bugging is that they’re all so similar.  So here we are with TWO WEEKS NOTICE.  I almost feel like at some point we could’ve switched the profession and the names and be reading one of the previous novellas.  That doesn’t mean it’s not enjoyable, but it definitely takes something away for me, personally.  If you haven’t read any Whitney G. before, though, I think this gives you a good taste of what you can expect.

That being said, this was a fun and quick read.  I liked that the heroine made something of herself and grabbed on with both hands to an opportunity that fell on her lap.  She didn’t just coast on the fact that her boss had a thing for her.  In fact, that didn’t even come into play until much later.  She was the best she could be in her position and stood on her own two feet.  That’s my favorite thing about this story.

Then there’s the plot and romance, which, as I said before it may seem like she’s written this before.  But Whitney G.’s heroes still make me swoony.  And that’s probably why I’ll still continue reading!  However, I am ready for a new full length with an original storyline.

  1. This sounds like the kind of author I would go to when I’m in a slump…decent story (even if repetitive), good characters. Thanks
