ARC Review: Turbulence by Whitney Gracia Williams
Recommended Read!
“TURBULENCE is unconventionally romantic, unapologetically sexy, and simply a good time read.”

Once again, Whitney G. shows us why she’s the queen of the jerk hero. Β There’s something about the way she writes her heroes that no matter how much of an asshole they are, I can’t help but keep reading and loving. Β Jake is the perfect example of that. Β There is no one big redeeming moment in this book where he doesn’t stay true to his character. Β And I wouldn’t want him any other way. Β Life has turned him bitter against the world and not give any fucks and he won’t apologize for it. Β He likes what he likes, and he has rules in place because that’s how he can get through the day. Β Except for how Gillian decides to break every single one of them and slowly weave her way into his heart.
To say I was very excited to read this book is an understatement because this is the same woman who gave us REASONABLE DOUBT and I shockingly ate that up like a glutton for more. Β After reading this, if you were to tell me there’s more books with Jake in them, I would continue to read them becauseΒ JakeΒ is the kind of jerk hero I like to read about. Β He’s extremely cocky, he doesn’t apologize for the asshole that he is, and he doesn’t try to curb himself for anyone. Β At the same time as that should repel me, I understood the appeal Gillian saw in him. Β The one that kept her coming back time and time again. Β There is something magnetic about him and I just had to have more. Β This is one of the few authors that can make me say that.
I was immediately captivated by the set up of this story as well because, as the title suggests, this does take place in the aviation industry. Β More specifically, a pilot and a flight attendant. Β I’m not in this industry so I don’t know how accurate some things are, but other things common sense tells me where a bit out of left field and just for the sake of fiction. Β I liked that Jake and Gillian are not that easy to figure out, they each have issues with trust and if I do say so myself, they are part psycho at times. Β Which makes perfect sense for them to be together and perfect for each other!
Jake and Gillian’s relationship is truly like a storm. Β Angsty and wild. The one thing that I Β couldn’t do was look away. Β This book was such a breeze to read and it pushed me to turn the pages faster and faster. I love when that happens, that feeling that I just have to know what happens next. Β It’s not an overly complicated plot, even when some degree of suspension of belief is needed to not over analyze things. Β I had a lot of it figured out in my head before the reveals, except the big reveal in the end. Β I definitely didn’t see that one coming and I think it amped up the stage for a more dramatic ending.
All in all, excellent job! Β At the core, TURBULENCE is unconventionally romantic, unapologetically sexy, and simply a good time read. Β I always seem to connect with the characters that Whitney G. creates and once again I did with these two. Β I can’t wait to read what she has for us next.
