Truthwitch tells a story of an unexpected heroine and her friend who has a hard battle ahead of them.  Not only that it focuses on friendship and a little romance but a story of a wonderful world filled with magic and monsters.

I found Truthwitch to be a good young adult fantasy read. It wasn’t spectacular but a good start to this series.   The different “witches” such as Truthwitch, Threadwitch, Windwitch, and Bloodwitch was a little confusing at times but I found still found it very interesting.  Though there was a bit of information overload in the very beginning, Truthwitch had moderate pace on the world building and it becomes even more exciting after the second half.

I enjoyed the relationship between the main characters Safi & Iseult.  I love that they came from different statuses yet their bond was unbreakable and their friendship was awe inspiring.  Not to mention their skills in fighting was pretty awesome!

There is a love interest here but just a hint.  I assume it will get heavier as the series continues.  I am excited to read more on where the romance will take Safi & Iseult and their possible beaus.  I’m betting the next installment will be even better.

  1. Nice! I still need to read this one! I was excited for it because I love Susan’s first trilogy and wanted to read more by her. Though I think the hype around this book had me scared despite wanting to read it. I guess because it got soooo much love, I was afraid I wouldn’t see all the greatness to it and not love it too. Hopefully I will be reading this one soonish possibly just before Windwitch too! Heehee! Nice review!
