“Despite external conflicts, the romance shines.”
~ Under the Covers

TRULY, MADLY, WHISKEY claims to be a standalone and while I do think the events work well on their own, Foster always likes to mention other characters from her other books. Itโ€™s almost like a promotional tactic to get you to read her other books. So that being said, you will encounter some references from TRU BLUE, one of her other standalone titles.

I would say in terms of style this one follows the same tone as TRU BLUE. Itโ€™s definitely more grittier and darker, exploring characters that arenโ€™t as polished or well-off as some of Fosterโ€™s other characters. The heroine, Crystal, wasnโ€™t one of my favorites of this authorโ€™s stories. I found that I didnโ€™t connect with her as much as thought I would. Thankfully, Bear was there to save the book.

I love all of Fosterโ€™s heroes. Although they are all sexy, they are all very different from each other. Bear has always had the hots for Crystal but she likes to keep him at armโ€™s length so perhaps thatโ€™s why I didnโ€™t fall for Crystal as quickly. She keeps people away from her too much. It took be a while to warm up to the story, but by the end, I was really convinced with the romance. I like that Foster takes her time and really focuses on the romance of the story. Despite external conflicts, the romance shines.
