“THEN THERE WAS YOU was captivating and unputdownable.”
~ Under the Covers
I admit completely to the fact the reason I wanted to read this book was because of that beautiful cover. Something about it just screamed READ ME NOW! I love small town contemporaries and this sounded right up my alley. What I wasn’t expecting was to fall in love with this story from the very beginning. THEN THERE WAS YOU was captivating and unputdownable.
Sara has moved back to her hometown because of her grandmothers’ declining health and to work at her father’s medical practice. A year ago her fiance and high school sweetheart called off the wedding days before it was due to happen and cheated on her at his bachelor party. She knows coming back to town will mean dealing with the town’s pity over what happened, and also dealing with her ex’s best friend Colton (now the Chief of Police), whom she fully blames for enabling the cheating.
Sara and Colton start off from a place of enemies to lovers but it was just a beautiful story of these two people that should’ve been together all along. Some miscommunication and bad luck prevented that and it was endearing to see them find their way to each other now. I think this lacked the animosity I was expecting from an enemies to lovers but I didn’t feel I missed that. It’s just the perfect small town romance that I love to read at this time of year. I adored the main characters, individually and together. But also the whole cast of characters introduced in this book, which means I can’t wait to read more from Angel Falls.
This was my first time reading Miranda Liasson but it definitely won’t be the last and highly recommend you put this on your summer to-read lists.
