Review: The Hot Shot by Kristen Callihan

I’m a fan of this series, but it definitely has its ups and downs.  I couldn’t resist the hot cover in this one and a bit more mature feel since this is out of college now.  I liked that about this story and also the fact that the heroine is a photographer and this book basically starts out with them meeting when she had to do a naked photo shoot of the team for a charity calendar.  I’m a sucker for that!

Finn is adorable and sweet and literally my favorite thing about this story!  I loved his character.  He’s gone through some hard things in life and maybe is getting to a point where he may be ready for more than just one night stands.  Meeting Chess came at just the right time, and he doesn’t freak out or fight too much with his need for being with her.  That’s another thing I really liked about him!  And then there’s the fact that there’s great chemistry between Chess and Finn as a couple.  Their easy banter is fun and I also loved how she naturally takes care of him when he needs it.  I thought they were a great pairing.

Where I think this story was missing something was the fact that it fell a bit flat sometimes.  There isn’t a lot of tension or huge obstacles to overcome and in the end for me that made the story predictable and a little boring.  I wasn’t dying to turn the pages and I definitely had no problem putting it down.  I wasn’t expecting to feel like that especially after loving the previous book to pieces.

THE HOT SHOT was overall an enjoyable, sweet, laid back and sexy read that put a smile on my face.  There are still characters I’m dying to see a book about *cough*Londo*cough* and I’m still excited for what’s next in the series.
