” …if you’re looking for an emotional second chance BDSM story with imperfect characters, this might be a good one for you.”

The Flirtation is the 10th book in Tara Sue Me’s submissive series and, as more recent books have demonstrated, focuses on another couple within Nathanial and Abby’s world. Lynn left the BDSM world a year ago after an abrupt breakup with her Dom, Simon. She’s never really gotten over him, and the circumstances of the breakup were a bit vague, but knows that she’s most happy as a submissive and decides to jump back into the pool. In a stroke of luck (or not), she runs into Simon on an online BDSM site. Lynn decides to engage Simon for some online games and it’s clear the chemistry is still there. Can these two reunite and come to terms with the reality that they’re meant for each other?
The Submissive series has been a long standing favorite for me. Tara Sue Me never disappoints in her skill with dialog and her pacing. She’s a great writer. There were character flaws and plot points about this one that did bother me though. Lynn’s deception at the start of the book was a bit too much for me, as it didn’t provide a logical way for her to get what she wanted without revealing her deception. While people can forgive and forget, it seemed a poorly thought out and uncomfortable way to rekindle a relationship. Simon is a passionate Dom and the scenes between them are emotional and erotic. That’s always been a strong suit of Sue Me and I think her readers will be happy. There is some drama regarding the BDSM club and a jealous ex play partner that were also a little cliché for me. This can be read as a stand alone. All in all, I always enjoy installments in this series, but this one fell a bit flat more me, not due to the writing, but the characters themselves. That being said, if you’re looking for an emotional second chance BDSM story with imperfect characters, this might be a good one for you.
