” I found it a little boring and it struggled to hold my attention…”
~ Under the Covers

My first 2018 dive into the New Adult genre has not been a success. The very thing that attracted me to this book, the name of the series, is the very thing that annoyed me. The author did warn me that the hero was a douche bag…as did the blurb…I should have listened.

This is a jock meets geek love story, with the added element that the jock in question is basically an arsehole to everyone; including his friends. In fact, it’s so bad that his coach is threatening to kick him off the wrestling team, despite him being the star. Enter Violet, she’s kind of a nerd and basically the complete opposite to the women he’s usually surrounded by. You can guess the rest.

I didn’t like the hero that much, even though he had fairly valid reasons for being how he was, I found that I just wasn’t invested enough in either him or the heroine to really care. Which, when you drill down into it, was the problem with the whole book, it never pulled me in. I found it a little boring and it struggled to hold my attention, luckily it was a fairly short read otherwise I probably wouldn’t have made it to the end.

This book wasn’t for me, however, if you like NA books with a geek and jock pairing you may like it.
