The Dead Guy Next Door by Lucy Score is a hilarious and entertaining read that gave me all the Charley Davidson vibes. Riley Thorn’s life is a mess—she’s divorced, broke, living with elderly neighbors, and possibly with psychic abilities, though she tries to ignore them until she sees her neighbor getting murdered before it happens. Things get crazier when a hot private investigator, Nick Santiago, shows up looking for him.

Riley becomes a suspect, and Nick decides to help her clear her name while investigating the murder himself. Nick is a charming rebel who usually keeps his options open, but something about Riley draws him in. While the romance was a bit insta-lovey for me, their banter made me think of Stephanie Plum and Joe Morelli.

The mix of sleuthing, romance, and paranormal makes this book a fun ride. It’s lighter on the paranormal side but still integrates it well. If you’re a fan of Darynda Jones or Janet Evanovich, this book is a must-read. The Dead Guy Next Door by Lucy Score was pure enjoyment and a fun ride. can’t wait to dive more into the series.
