“I found THE DARKEST CAPTIVE an entertaining read and a nice addition to the series. ”
~ Under the Covers
I should probably start this review by coming clean about one thing. The heroine in this book, Legion, was introduced early on in this series and I immediately disliked her. Yes, that probably has something to do with the role she plays in Aeron’s book and I just never really got over it. I know Ms. Showalter has tried to show us a different side of her since then, but I’m just not going to move her to the BFF column any time soon. That being said, you can imagine I wasn’t all that excited about seeing her get an HEA. And let’s not forget that the hero is a once traitor Demon possessed warrior we may have some back issues with as well. So keep that in mind when I talk about this book because it’s entirely possible that tainted some of my enjoyment.
OK so I actually found Galen kind of adorable. He’s so fascinated and blindly in love with Legion it was sweet to see in a way. He truly will do anything and sacrifice everything for her and that made this story romantic in a …. bloodthirsty way? LOL You know it’s not going to be all roses and lovey dovey stuff in a Showalter book, right?
While he was my favorite thing, and yes the plot as well, I still didn’t warm up to Legion. At this point, I don’t think that will ever happen. I’m just bitter when it comes to her and I think that affected how I saw her in this novella as well. I got to disinterest so I think that’s a step up from hate. 🙂
The storyline was good and kept me engaged and there are certainly some things that I can’t wait to see developed more in the series. Overall, I found THE DARKEST CAPTIVE an entertaining read and a nice addition to the series. But I am glad it was only a novella and not a full length book.

LOL, I don’t blame you. I’m curious enough to read any LotU books, but I’m not equally excited about each pairing.
