~ Under the Covers
Our hero, Lance, and his 3 friends have formed the Order of the Broken Blade with the purpose of overthrowing the tyrant King John. In order to achieve their goal they will need support from others and one of those key supporters has to be the Earl of Stanton. If only they can get close to him to try and convince him to give men and money to their cause. So when a position at his castle opens up for a new master smith, Lance decides to use his skills and sets out to get his alliance. What wasn’t in his plans was the Earl’s daughter, Idalia.
I’m happy to be back reading a Cecelia Mecca historical romance. I think she excels at writing this genre! In particular I’m really enjoying the touch of political intrigue that this series offers. I couldn’t help but be swept off with the chemistry between Idalia and Lance. And I’m also extremely happy that things that could’ve been easily used to cause drama and miscommunication weren’t used that way.
THE BLACKSMITH was just a fun book from beginning to end and I can’t wait for the next one.
