ARC Review: That Forever Girl by Meghan Quinn

I’ve been going back and forth on how I feel about this book for a while now and putting off writing this review.  There’s something about this series that is a little different from Meghan Quinn’s other books for me.  It definitely lacks the humor that is the number 1 reason I keep coming back to her books.

I was super excited though to read this because it’s a second chance romance.  Rogan and Harper were childhood best friends who dated from high school thru some of college.  But something happened that derailed their relationship.  Harper has now moved back into town and it’s the first time since their breakup that they are constantly around each other.  There was some enemies to lovers feel at first in this book but what I wasn’t a huge fan of was Rogan’s attitude.  Frankly he was kind of a jerk and I didn’t think his behavior was justified when we find out what went down in the past.  For the majority of this book there’s this animosity between the two and then in one moment things turn around and Rogan does a 180.  It took too long and then it didn’t make sense.

I will say I found the whole Lovemark (aka Hallmark) storyline completely adorable because I love watching Hallmark Christmas movies.  And I also loved the way the title is tied into the story.  That Forever Girl.  It warmed the cackles of my heart and it gave the story something sweet and endearing.

All that aside, I never did care for either of the main characters.  I didn’t dislike them, don’t get me wrong, I just wasn’t rooting for them after a while.  I may have to think about reading the next book in this series or just sticking with what I know I like from this author instead.
