“It’s funny, light and sexy and it does male POV just perfect.”

After struggling with the story in book 1, I knew I was still interested in this series because I found the other guys we met to be interesting and I couldn’t wait to see what trouble they got into next. I am happy with the turn of events in SUSTAINED!
Jake Becker hasn’t had a real relationship, ever. Women never last past the morning with him when he quickly disposes of them. He’s had a rough life and considers himself unfit for being in a relationship, or marriage, because of it. No, don’t go away yet. I know what you’re thinking. One of those I’ll turn out like my father issues. But as much as I dislike the trope, it worked in this book!
After his early age struggles, someone gives him a second chance and teaches him about redeeming himself and all about law. And so he ends up being one of the most ruthless defense attorneys in DC. Until one day a little kid bumps into him and steals his wallet. He makes it his duty to take the boy home and tell his parents what he’s done. Except there are no parents. Just a young woman who is now in charge of 6 children after the death of her brother. And he can’t get enough of his attraction for her.
I think Jake was the perfect guy to be thrust into this situation. As much as he thinks he’s a hardass, he’s just a sweet guy. Deep down he cares for those around him, and he quickly gives his heart to not only the woman, but the children as well. The transformation was fun to watch! The kids are all endearing and will quickly steal your heart as well.
And as far as the chemistry between Chelsea and Jake? They compliment each other so well it’s as if they’ve been dating for a while! And even though neither one of them asked for the responsibilities they are facing in this book, they both tackle them face first and with great determination. Perfect couple and great team work! In and out of the bedroom.
SUSTAINED has more of the feel of good ol’ Drew Evans I was looking for when I started this series. It’s funny, light and sexy and it does male POV just perfect.
And yes, we do get to see the gang from the first book. I don’t know how to feel about that because I’m not a fan of Sofia and Stanton as a couple. I tried to block most of that out of my mind in this one. We even see Presley, and there is a wedding. I just can’t say I was excited about reading any of that and I’m glad it didn’t take up too much page count of this story. Brent now… I’m definitely curious about his book and now looking forward to it.

Maybe the reason I wasn’t able to get to the book store the other day was because I was supposed to find out about this book so I could buy it too!
Thanks for the review Francesca
I enjoyed this one more than the first one too! I really liked the romance in this one. I felt it and I giggled through most of this book. I liked that the humor wasn’t so over the top too! Great review!
Thanks for the review, Francesca!
