ARC Review: Speakeasy by Sarina Bowen

I cannot tell you how excited I get when I see a new book out in this series!  I love how Sarina Bowen has given us a world where each book is completely different than the other while still feeling very much as part of the same group.  The books in this series never feel repetitive but you know one thing for certain… you’re going to get a book packed full with emotion.

I wasn’t sure if we were ever going to get a book for May Shipley.  And if we did, I thought for sure she would end up with a woman.  So color me surprised when this happened.  May and Alec are both the middle child of their family.  Both have dealt with (and are dealing with) the family’s expectations and judgment about their life and decisions.  Alec has also always harbored bad feelings for the Shipley family in general, especially for May’s brother Griffin.  But none of that can stand against the sizzling chemistry between these two.

There’s something endearing about May’s character, always has been.  I loved seeing her character development throughout the series and I think it really came full circle in this one.  And Alec was just the right person to bring her out of that shell she had gone into.  Alec is such a fun hero and that’s just what May needed.  He brought life to her and I just adore him.  And while this isn’t my favorite in the series, it’s definitely a great addition to it.

If you are not reading this series and you like series that center around families and friends with very real characters then give this series a try.  You’ll end up falling in love like I did.
