ARC Review: Sleeping ‘Til Sunrise by Mary Calmes

I’ve been looking forward to Essien’s story ever since he made his first appearance with his daughter, Ivy in SULTRY SUNSET. You may remember that I initially thought Hutch might actually get together with Essien but Mary Calmes surprised me instead. That being said, I was thrilled to see that Essien the Fire Chief would get his HEA in SLEEPING ‘TIL SUNRISE.

After his ex wife died, Essien has been the primary caretaker for his daughter. Ivy is as spirited and fun-loving as all of Calmes’ other characters but I really thought she was a joy to read about in this book because she has been trying to play matchmaker for her father. While being adorable, it also creates a lot of page time between father and daughter so I love that Calmes explored that in the very beginning to show how Ivy felt about her father and her stance on him dating other people.

As always, the romance occurs quite quickly in these books due to its short nature. But I was definitely rooting for Essien and Roark throughout. There’s something very charming about both these characters and I liked that Calmes focused a little bit more on their busy lifestyles. Since the both of them have such busy schedules, the fact that they are making time for romance and each other brings a sort of sweetness to the story, further strengthening their HEA.
