“This novella is packed full of southern charm and Ms. Harper’s fun writing style.”
~ Under the Covers
I read this out of order as this is meant to be the prequel to the series, but it was totally fine. This novella is packed full of southern charm and Ms. Harper’s fun writing style. For some reason, in contemporary romance it works for me.
SAVE A TRUCK, RIDE A REDNECK is a second chance love story about high school sweethearts. Marianne didn’t want to get stuck in her small town after high school so she dumped Carl and went off to the big city to become a lawyer. She wanted nothing to do with the family business and nothing to do with becoming like some of the other women her age. Married, pregnant and stuck. Now she’s back in town to visit her family and has to face the issues and emotions from before.
While this wasn’t a perfect story and Marianne got on my nerves a little bit, it was a sweet read and it delivered what I was looking for from this series. I think it has quite a bit of family dynamics so it’s not all focused on the romance, which I think was great. Probably the connection and the romance could’ve been better but it was nice.
I’m really excited for Frankie’s book now. I’m so close to getting to it and I think she’ll be my favorite for sure.

Thanks for the review.
I was not a hundred percent into this one, but I do like the overall southern charm of it and the others I’ve read in the series.
