“I just wish it would’ve been more mature.”
~ Under the Covers
Maybe I’ve been reading too many hockey books lately… This is a series that could have a lot of potential, but I’m not sure I enjoyed the execution as much. Meaning the new adult feel of the book, the lack of communication that quickly creates all the problems between these main characters.
ONE MORE SHOT was a bit of a rollercoaster for me. There were parts I where I was interested and the book had my attention, and then there were others where I just couldn’t have cared less. I do like the small town and best friend tropes as well as the fact that this series sort of revolves around a family. I’m conflicted in both wanting to continue reading and not, but I think I’ll be giving it the series another shot.
My main issue with this book was as I mentioned, the lack of communication. Both the hero and heroine showed that they are still immature in how they rather assume things than talk about it. Especially the heroine. After it happens more than once and that behavior continues almost all the way through, I did get a bit cranky. Other than that, this was a sweet book. Not angsty or too complicated, and a fast read. I just wish it would’ve been more mature.

I agree with your review, but I am glad to see you are sticking with this series. I rated this one 2 stars, but I thought the second one was much better!
I’ll be interested to read your thoughts on the next book!
Oh that’s great to hear! I’m so interested because I loved the setup in this one for book 2 so I guess you just cemented that decision! I’ll be reading it soon.
I’ll think on this but not racing out to get it…thanks!
