“BROKEN OPEN is packed full of sexual chemistry, and deeper emotions.  Two broken people helping each other heal.  You will fall not only for the main couple, but their family and friends as well.  That is my crack!  And this was a perfect fix.”

I have a confession to make.  I liked this book more than the first!  I sort of knew that would happen because Ezra, ohhhhh boy.  I had to get my hands on him.  We all love a tortured hero that has been through hell and back and Ezra fits that mold.  Plus he’s a rock star turned rancher in his spare time when he’s not writing massive hit songs.  Bonus points for that.

BROKEN OPEN gives us the side of his relationship with Tuesday that we only saw through Paddy and Natalie’s eyes in THE BEST KIND OF TROUBLE.  I knew their chemistry was off the charts, but my excitement grew from the very first moment they connected in this book.

They have some serious obstacles to overcome in this book, but for the most part this was a sweet and sexy read without going to deep in angst territory.  And I like that about this series.  Another favorite thing of mine is the smart and rational female leads.  These are women that know themselves pretty good and can admit when they need to take a step back instead of acting out.

But back to Tuesday and Ezra.  Ezra has been through the ringer.  His drug addiction had put him almost out of the band, and it’s now relegated him to studio work only.  He’s just starting to dip his toes into live performances again but it’s not something he can go back to full time.  He’s taken on responsibilities at the family ranch and that’s important to him.  He’s the big brother that the others look up to and look to him when things go wrong.  And for a while he wasn’t.  He’s still dealing with the emotional aftermath of that in this book, and trying to figure out when his addictive personality will strike next.  I found him to be a strong and lovable alpha male.  Worthy of all the love and attention and everyone wants to shower him with.  And just the guy you want to fall in love with.

I loved Tuesday’s personality.  She’s a tough chick who goes for what she wants and she’s had to deal with a lot of heartache in her previous marriage.  From being cheated on, to the death of her husband.  She’s lived through it.  She’s thrived.  And she’s now an independent woman making her dreams come through.  She doesn’t need a man, she wants Ezra as a partner, not a crutch.  And that’s my favorite type of heroine.

I think Ms. Dane did a great job at handling racism in this book as well.  Oftentimes in books with an interracial couple that is just glossed over.  But that’s not true in society and it was nice to see the author incorporate that struggle into their relationship as something they have to deal with as well.  It only made me love Ezra more to see that.

BROKEN OPEN is packed full of sexual chemistry, and deeper emotions.  Two broken people helping each other heal.  You will fall not only for the main couple, but their family and friends as well.  That is my crack!  And this was a perfect fix.
