Hearts of Darkness is a very quick, very sweet and a very hot read by Laura Kaye. I read this 2011, and I reread it to prepare for the second installment out this month.

I remember reading this and falling hard for Mckenna and Jace. It’s an unlikely pairing, but they are sweet and sexy nonetheless. Their beginning was quite extraordinary. It was love and lust at first meet in the dark…literally. They were stuck in an elevator and well, with nothing else to do, they ended up getting to know each other. I love that it all happened in the dark, and all reservations of appearances were put aside. Jace is super hot complete with tats and piercings, and plain Jane McKenna couldn’t resist his charms. Unfortunately, the book ended way too quick for my liking, but so much more to both characters were left unsaid. Of course, leaving me and the rest of Laura Kaye’s fans needing more.

I have to say though that I rated this book at four stars initially because I was disappointed with the short length of the book and at the time, I knew a sequel was not in the plans. I felt like I had reading blue balls and was left hanging. I needed more of their story. I can safely say; you won’t get ‘reading blue balls” because the next installment is scheduled for release 1/12/15. So, go crazy and read on!!!
