I’m a Terrible groupie. There’s no denying it. After glomming on the books, I found myself addicted to the chief enforcer of Downside’s most powerful criminal. So you can just imagine my excitement in learning about this novella entirely from Terrible’s POV.

WRONG WAYS DOWN takes place very early on in the series. When I picked up this book, I didn’t bother reading the blurb. If you’ve managed to become an autobuy author for me, which Stacia Kane is, I trust enough in them to give me what I need and make me entertained. As a result, I was expecting this book to take place after the latest book, not right after the first book. Terrible is off beating on people who have dues while also trying to get answers about the rape and murder of a prostitute. This sets the story in motion, giving readers some insight into Terrible’s mind as a thug on the street.

We see a lot of his intelligence in this novella in a clearer picture. Despite the broken speech, Terrible has a mind like a diamond, so hard and unrelenting. Speaking of the broken speech, it’s been a long time since I’ve read this series and getting back into the groove took a little while. I just felt like it took a bit more effort to read this novella than simply having it written in Chess’s POV because of how it was written. Some parts were just downright confusing.

I’m glad to note that Chess is present and though it’s the very early stages of their relationship, I enjoyed reading Terrible’s feelings about her. It’s still the baby stage. Though I found this amusing, I really really would have loved to see Terrible’s thoughts on the more recent events that happened. As this is a novella written for the fans who asked for a Terrible POV story, I can’t complain at all at having this treat to read. However, do I think that it offered some additional dimension to what Kane has already built with the main installments of the series? I’m not sure I could vouch for that. This is a treat and I’m taking it at that value only.

Kane briefly touches on how Terrible feels about Chess’s addiction. I loved this and only wished that more of this was covered. This was one of the things I was most looking forward to reading about. But because this is so early on in the series, again I don’t think it was enough for me to truly say, wow!

In the end, I loved this little treat. I can’t say not to Terrible so I’ll take what I can get.
