While WORKING IT didn’t entirely work for me, I still enjoyed the saucy moments between Ben and Emmy. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. ~ Under the Covers

WORKING IT, the first book in the Love by Design series by Kendall Ryan features a model hero, Ben Shaw and a modeling agency assistant named Emmy Clarke. Emmy is out of her element as she lives in New York, trying her best to excel in the fast-paced city world. In this time, she comes face-to-face with one of the most highly sought-after male models from the agency.

Ben Shaw is much like what you think a male model would be. He is devastatingly good-looking and he knows it. His charm oozes from his and can come off as slightly too cocky in some situations. While the story starts out of chick lit in tone at the beginning, it soon morphs into an erotic romance that gets hotter by the minute. Though not particularly deep, Ryan does create good chemistry between the hero and heroine. I wished that Emmy came out of her skin more because her character was often overshadowed by Ben who could come on too strong in some situations. I hoped for more of a balance in personalities to show that they complemented one another more.

Ryan’s writing style is very free-flowing and easy to read. There aren’t much complications in terms of plot or conflict so if you’re looking for a fun and sexy read then this is for you. I would recommend this book to fans of Alice Clayton’s Redhead series. A lot of the same chick lit elements appear in both series, so there is a lot to love there if you are interested in that.

While WORKING IT didn’t entirely work for me, I still enjoyed the saucy moments between Ben and Emmy. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
