Visions of Heat is the second book in Singh’s amazing Psy-Changling series. And although I adored Lucas Hunter in the first book, I think his Sentinel Vaughn is giving the alpha a run for his money!I adore Vaughn! Of the Pack, his animal side prowls at the surface of his mind more than the others. As a jaguar, he has this wild possessiveness and dark sensuality that makes him stand out of the Pack. There was something darker about Vaughn then there was about Lucas but that only added to his appeal, especially how he acted tenderly towards Faith. I definitely wouldn’t mind finding him crawling through my sunroof! I adored his all-or-nothing attitude and envied Faith for her ability to rein in an alpha male like Vaughn.

Faith NightStar is an F-Psy, one of those who are valued and rare in the Psy community. But because of her awesome foreseer abilities, she is also the most isolated. I will admit, I always have a bit of trouble warming up to the Psy. They are so devoid of emotions that it can be slow going for me. But there is always a quiet strength among them which I like very much. She was brave and strong, facing the worst aspect of emotions when she has never felt emotion before.

On the heat scale of this book, this was a lot hotter than the first book. The build up of heat and intensity between Faith and Vaughn was just as good as when they actually got down and dirty! I have discovered that Nalini Singh is a master at building up sexual chemistry. When Vaughn was imagining when he wanted to do to Faith, I swear I was a puddle on the floor!

But aside from the romance, I liked the way Singh has developed the overarching plot about the Silence protocol and the NetMind. This book shows you more of how Psy society works and reveals just how atrocious the Council really is. I really can’t wait to see what happens and I am reading these just as much to see how they defeat Silence as to see the next romance!
