“Surprised.  Conflicted.  Enthralled.  A bit disturbed.  Heart broken. … This book was a sinful guilty pleasure.” ~Under the Covers

Surprised.  Conflicted.  Enthralled.  A bit disturbed.  Heart broken.  Those were all feelings going through me while reading VEILED INNOCENCE.  This is type of book that pushes the limits of what you deem acceptable or the type of ending you want to see to a story like this.  And I loved it!  Sometimes, you just need to be pushed outside of your comfort zone to find that next great read!

VEILED INNOCENCE is a forbidden romance between a student and her teacher.  No, not the sleazy schmarmy type.  This story is full of angst, confliction but at the bottom of it all, a love story.  Addison is a tormented student, who has her own issues after the death of her brother.  She also has a new found confidence that allows her to go for what she wants, always.  And what she’s set her sights on now is the new history teacher, Mr. McKendrick.  Grayson knows he should stay away and resist her but she proves to be too much of a temptation.

I found that the way she did the flashbacks kept the suspense mounting as to what had happened and how their romance had ended.  Where is Grayson.  What’s wrong with Addy.  The past and present story slowly unfolds as Addison’s therapy sessions continue.  And one thing is undeniable, their chemistry is palpable and comes right off the pages!

This book was a sinful guilty pleasure.  My brain kept telling me “no, you can’t!” but in the end I couldn’t help but to be rooting for these two to get their HEA.  Even though Addison can be a bit of a slut, even though Grayson shouldn’t have acted on his desires.  As much as the fact that I was loving it was also disturbing me, I couldn’t walk away.  If there’s an author that could’ve pulled this off for me, Ella Frank is it.  I can’t wait to see in which ways she’ll push my limits next.

VI BLOGTOURposterTick, tick, tock.

Time.

That’s all I have now.

A small room, a photograph, and time.

They want me to trust them and confess my sins.

They told me they wouldn’t judge me—they lied.

I thought we could convince the world that this wasn’t a crime.

We were wrong.

Time doesn’t stand still.

The clock keeps ticking, the world is unconvinced, and now…

Now he is gone.

Excerpt

I couldn’t believe she’d followed me home.

I was sitting in my truck with my hands wrapped around the steering wheel. I could see her in the rearview mirror, and my heart pounded in my chest as I thought about my next move.

I’d purposely waited to leave until she had gone home. It had been quite the wait, but I couldn’t afford to put myself within close quarters of this girl.

She was undisciplined and clearly had never heard the word no in her life. She wanted things she couldn’t have, and I needed to make that much clearer than in our previous conversations.

I could see the hood of her car peeking out from behind one of the neighbor’s hedges and wished I could forget she was there, but this time she had crossed too many lines. She needed to know that this behavior could not continue.

Pushing open my truck door, I climbed out and locked it before walking down the drive. I strode purposefully along the sidewalk and tried to think of exactly what I was going to say to this student of mine.

Please stop following me? Please stop hitting on me?

They both sounded ridiculous, and I realized that at this point the word please needed to be thrown right out the fucking window.

Polite wasn’t going to work with Addison Lancaster. It was time to get serious, maybe even mean, because this girl had the ability to destroy me.
