“A perfect balance of rawness and authenticity, Sorensen once again delivers a story that satisfies.” ~ Under the Covers

UNRAVELING YOU is the first book in a spin off series involving Ella and Micha’s daughter, Lyric and Ethan and Lila’s newly adopted son named Ayden. I don’t know why I haven’t read this book sooner because this series has been one of my all-time favorites for a long time. I worried that Sorensen would try to extend something good and ruin it. However, that is not the case. Lyric and Ayden’s story is unique on its own, proving how talented a writer Jessica Sorensen really is.

UNRAVELING YOU tackles the slightly younger age sixteen where a teen’s vulnerabilities are high. Ayden is just entering a new home with an established family and is slowly adjusting to his new life. He holds a lot of reservations because, like everything else in his life, he believes that this is temporary.

Lyric, on the other hand, is bright and cheery always. She is the key that opens the door to Ayden’s trust. She earns this by being nice to him, making him smile and sticking up for him when school people try to mess him up. If you’ve read the Secret series, then you know that Ella’s mother has bi polar disorder so there’s a small hint wondering if Lyric has also inherited this disorder since she is always so upbeat.

Their story lies on the more sweeter side of things. Since they are younger, Sorensen takes a different approach to this book. It shows just how well she is able to adjust her writing, but also how capable she is of writing different age groups. I think her voice fits a lot of different ranges. There’s no sex, just a few stolen kisses but since their story does continue in book two, I’m sure it’ll be inevitable.

A perfect balance of rawness and authenticity, Sorensen once again delivers a story that satisfies.

  1. I’m going to read a Jessica Sorensen book one of these days. I have a few on my TBR but haven’t started any yet, maybe for #RollBackWeek.
