“If you love a great mystery, some excellent characters, fabulous humor, and steamy scenes, definitely check out TO CATCH A FOX. You will not be disappointed! I, for one, absolutely loved it.” ~Under the Covers

Wow!! TO CATCH A FOX was an amazing start to what promises to be an excellent series, and I am so ready to read more fun adventures!

Jon Fox is a private investigator in the Big Easy. None of his recent cases seem to be sharing the namesake of sweet New Orleans, however; in fact, they are more than difficult and repeatedly life-threatening. When TO CATCH A FOX begins, we find Jon dealing with the negative, risky effects of bringing a case to resolution – a cheating spouse case gone wrong, to say the least. The excitement and action from the start of the novel grasp the reader immediately, though, and honestly, neither diminishes throughout the entire book.

After making it through the cheating spouse case alive, we find Jon intrigued by a sweet little old lady who hires him to help her find someone that she wants to kill. Her demeanor and age make him doubt her claims of wanting to off someone, though, so he agrees to take the case, just so he can delve further.

After taking the case and doing his requisite research, Jon finds that a very attractive man is somehow involved as well. Enter Tucker Wilder. While Jon is quite the playboy and has willing lovers throughout the city, Jon is fascinated by Tucker and plans to get to know him better than just through his telephoto lens. Before long, fate (or bad luck) intervenes and brings the guys together, just not in the way initially intended. Luckily, while they are constantly fighting to save their asses (and each other’s), they are able to find some time to get lucky and do some fun things with those asses as well. ๐Ÿ˜‰

TO CATCH A FOX was such a pleasure to read. It was chock full of all of the things I love in a book: an excellent, well thought out and intricate plot (I love to have to keep guessing); main characters who are far from perfect but are 100% loveable by me; an excellent supporting cast; AMAZING humor; incredibly steamy sexy time; and the promise of a hard-won HEA. Knight and Day wrote all of these into the book splendidly.

In addition to having a great plot to go along with the suspense and mystery of the novel, I love reading about damaged, 3-dimensional characters and their development. Jon Fox is definitely one such character. He has not had an easy life…his dad died when he was young, his mother went insane as a result, his aunt died long before she should have, and Fox spent most of his youth floundering and seeking comfort in a bottle. It took him awhile, but he finally tried to get some semblance of order in his life when he cleaned himself up and became a P.I. There are so many intricate parts of Fox, however, and while he has a fairly good grasp on his life at the moment, it is far from perfect, and his personal demons aren’t gone for good. I really liked seeing Jon still having to wrestle with those demons, though, and seeing him try to be a better man at the end of the day. He has awhile to go before getting there, but I look forward to making the journey with him.

Tucker is a great, fun, and far from perfect character as well. He, too, grew up without the ideal family and picket fence, and some days he is is own worst enemy. But he keeps chugging along, and along with his good looks, Tucker is gifted with intelligence, creativity, and tons of snark…all the things I love! And when you put him and Jon together – watch out! Their banter is laugh-out loud hysterical, and their sexual chemistry is off-the-charts hot!!

TO CATCH A FOX is not a short book, and thank goodness for that! So much happens in the story, and Knight and Day develop it all perfectly. Additionally, we get to know the supporting cast well throughout the book, and like our main characters, they are so much fun to read. And while I have a special place in my heart for Leigh (hehe), I have to say that my favorite supporting character, hands down is Snowflake! I don’t want to spoil who Snowflake is, but I will just say this – he is one badass mo-fo, and I would LOVE to have him for my pet!

So in this book we have mystery, suspense, well-developed characters, and what else? Oh yes…hot, hot, HAWT sexy time!! We see a dominant side in Jon, and we see Tucker respond oh, so well to it. Who knew Tuck liked things a bit rough?!? Rawr!! Looks like a great combination to me! But, not wanting to give away too much, let’s just say that these fellows have a long road to travel before getting to an HEA. At least they have the chemistry, the charisma, and the interest to eventually get there.

So, all in all, if you love a great mystery, some excellent characters, fabulous humor, and steamy scenes, definitely check out TO CATCH A FOX. You will not be disappointed! I, for one, absolutely loved it, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

To give you a taste of the flavor of the book, I’ll leave you with a few of my favorite lines:

“You each one look like somethin’ Satan sired for the sole purpose of sinnin’.” ~Leigh, speaking to Jon and Tucker

“Tucker, meet Eva. Eva, this is Tucker. And no it’s not what you think.”

“Well, it is a little what you think.” Tuck shrugged matter-of-factly, pointing in Fox’s direction. “But Handsy, the one-man-horn-dog band here started all that.”

“I don’t buy that for one minute, honey-child. It takes at least two to make it a band, and you look like you’ve been itchin’ to play since you first figured out how to pluck your string.” ~Eva

“Are you okay?”

“What?” Tucker shouted back, trying to wring out his ear with one finger.

“I said, are you okay?” Fox shouted back.

“Of course I’m gay!”” Tucker yelled. “For a detective you pick the strangest times to ask the most idiotic questions.”
