“This was one of those few times when the 1 Night Stand series did not deliver what I wanted.” ~ Under the Covers

THREESOME SWEETNESS is a short story, and a part of the 1 Night Stand series.  Not really a series, more like an idea and then stories continue on with that concept.  Basically 1 Night Stand is an agency that will facilitate anything you need to make your fantasies a reality.

In this instance we have Elizabeth and Todd.  Happily married couple, or so it seemed.  Elizabeth is the part time manager at a pub in Ireland, and her husband Todd works too much.  As all relationships that go through ups and downs, they might be going through a lull in their sex life and Todd decides to spice things up with a threesome as a birthday present for his wife.

He brings him the help of 1 Night Stand to find that perfect third.  Cade is an american cowboy on a business trip looking to blow off some steam and maybe just the perfect addition to their sex life.

Now, while some things worked for me in this story, some just didn’t quite hit the mark.  This was one of those few times when the 1 Night Stand series did not deliver what I wanted.

While I love the marriage that needs help storyline, I didn’t think they played the saving card correctly.  From the very beginning of this threesome, Elizabeth was not into it and almost felt like a get-through moment instead of an enjoy the hell out of this experience moment.

I really didn’t get Cade’s motivation.  He’s got money, he’s got girls, and he has the love and affection of someone back home that he’s overlooking.  I didn’t get what he was finding in this setup, especially when it was clear Elizabeth wasn’t as into the whole idea as she should’ve been and limits started popping up.

In  the end, like I said, I’m a sucker for an HEA where an already married couple works through their issues and gets to a new point in their relationship where they are back in love again for a little while.  So that was my favorite part about this story.  Now maybe I’ll have to continue on with this story to find out what happened to Cowboy Cade.

    Hmm..after reading this review, I’m also wondering what spurred her husband, Todd, to do a threesome–especially if Elizabeth didn’t seem to be into it. Did she ever tell him in the past that this was a fantasy of hers? If not, the what the hell? That would leave me puzzled.
    I’ve read a couple of the 1 Night Stand series, but I have to say, despite the menage concept, I ‘ll probably skip this one.
