I discovered another Tara Lain series!  I was really excited to find this and a good thing I found it late since this book was actually published after the second book was already out.  So I’m actually reading what happened in the correct order.

Jake Martin is young and successful.  Also very smart.  He’s been in love with his boss, Dr. Emmaline Silvay for a long time now.  When he is assigned to go to a conference by himself and meets an extremely handsome guy in the hotel bar he couldn’t quite believe that he had the hots for him or that he went as far as he did sexually with the guy.

Of course Roan Black is extremely good looking.  He’s a model.  I like that he’s not openly gay and he still maintains his celebrity image as reserved, not the party animal.  And he even has a beautiful woman who he does have a relationship with.  So, yes, both men in this story are actually bi and very much fine with acting on that.

Jake’s struggles with realizing he was attracted to men felt real, he was even an ass at times which is what I would’ve expected.  Roan was patient and understanding with him, showing a caring side that just made him the perfect man because, hello, gorgeous supermodel AND has feelings AND is smart!

I actually enjoyed that Jake had someone to help him through other than Roan.  His brother Cal is gay and this is something Jake didn’t know before.  I enjoyed a lot how they supported each other and I kind of hope that in the future of this series we will see Cal’s book.

My only complain with this story was how the love for Emmaline was left completely open ended, but I do know that the next book picks that story where it was left off.  I’m excited to see how she will play in the dynamic of this couple, because I did manage to believe the connection between Jake and Roan even though it happened a bit fast.

About Tara Lain

Tara Lain never met a beautiful boy she didn’t love – at least on paper. A writer of erotic romance, mostly ménage and male/male, Tara loves all her characters, but especially her handsome heroes. A lifelong writer of serious non-fiction, Tara only fell in love with EROM in 2009 and, through perseverance and lots of workshops, had the first novel she ever wrote accepted for publication in 2010. She’s now on book fourteen and counting. After an exotic life of travel all over the world and work in television, education and advertising, Tara settled in Southern California with her soul-mate husband and opened her own small marketing business. She paints, collages, and started practicing yoga “way before it was fashionable”. Passionate about diversity, justice, inclusion and new ideas she says on her tombstone it will read, “Yes”.
