“It all started with Vampire Academy and now a few years later with the Bloodlines series coming to an end, I can still say that Mead is still one of my auto buy authors. I just love her writing.” ~ Under the Covers

Richelle Mead has been one of my all-time favorite authors for a very long time. In fact, I had say that she’s probably one of the authors responsible for starting my obsession with books. It all started with Vampire Academy and now a few years later with the Bloodlines series coming to an end, I can still say that Mead is still one of my auto buy authors. I just love her writing.

If you’re a loyal fan like I am then you’re well aware of the things Adrian has been through. After falling in love and then having Rose find someone else, Adrian has had it hard ever since. With his status and his devil may cry personality, he makes it seem like everything is okay but he really isn’t.

For the majority of this series, I thought Sydney paled in comparison to Rose. She was such a drastic change that I never really thought of her as good enough to be with Adrian. But with this book, I finally accepted that Adrian is happy with her and that’s good enough for me.

Now that they are married, Sydney and Adrian aren’t riding off into the sunset yet. With Jill kidnapped, Sydney and Adrian must devise a plan to get her back. The process involves Sydney turning into a cat, escaping the Alchemist and a whole bunch of other things while Adrian remains back at Court until he can sneak out himself.

As always Richelle Mead’s writing is fast-paced and hardhitting. Every single chapter ending is a jawdropping one and it makes the reading experience very exciting. You can tell that she’s been doing this for years because the story is polished to perfection.

Some bombs are dropped, including one detail about Adrian and Dimitri that had me stopping and sitting up to make sure I read it correctly the first time. Also Rose, Lissa and even Christian are present in this book. I loved getting updates on them. It’s just nice to read about such familiar characters that you love.

By the end of it all, so much in the book happens that I feel like if you blinked, you might miss it. Like I said earlier, I really got the sense that Adrian and Sydney are happy together and while it took awhile to get there and Adrian had to go through a whole lot of shit before it happened, I can happily say that I’m glad where they ended up. I’m sad to have to say goodbye to these characters but maybe one day Mead will have a story for Eddie. I would absolutely LOVE to read about him.

  1. I read VA and enjoyed it but I don’t like spin-offs so I haven’t read this….also, i’ve read several books of hers and there is a recurring theme that I have trouble with :/

  2. I am SO behind on this series! I think the last book I read was The Indigo Spell. I have to go read more. Where does the time go?
