“Their banter is entertaining, while their sexual chemistry is there…Taking the good with the bad, this was a fast and enjoyable read for me by a new author.” ~ Under the Covers

I’m a sucker for a rock star book.  Especially when it comes with an angsty lead singer.  THE RESISTANCE started off really captivating my attention.  Jack Dalton is the lead singer of THE RESISTANCE.  He happens to be in Vegas and meets Holliday Hughes at a corporate event.  She doesn’t know who he is but they are immediately attracted to each other.  And as sparks fly they decide to have a one night stand.  Their chemistry pushes them to want more and turn it into a weekend fling, until she realizes who he is.

I was really loving this story until the unrealistic fact that Holliday is a huge fan of Jack’s band didn’t know who he was.  I mean, I do know what at least the lead singer looks like if I’m such a fan of a band.  But putting that aside…

There are several things that stand out and that I liked.  Holliday is a fun, fearless, independent woman.  Always love a lead character that is not going to get bulldozed by a famous boyfriend.  I love that she has a full life without him and that she’s not willing to put all that on hold just to be his groupie.  The fact she’s fun and fresh plays well with Jack’s fun side.  Their banter is entertaining, while their sexual chemistry is there.

What I wasn’t a fan of?  How much of an ass Jack could turn into from unwarranted and silly jealousy!  It really made me consider the fact that maybe Holliday should end up with her sexy neighbor instead of him because he was acting so douchy.  And wanting your heroine to end up with a different guy is never a good thing.

Taking the good with the bad, this was a fast and enjoyable read for me by a new author.

  1. Hmmmm I don’t enjoy a book if I’m not absolutely sure they ended up with the correct person…thanks francesca

  2. Thanks for the review, I’ve read the book and also gave it a 3 star. I just couldn’t connect to the characters and didn’t like parts of the story.
